Luhrmann in talks with Scottish artist/novelist
Adrian Wiszniewski is a Glasgow artist who's latest novel Touching Cloth has attracted the attention of Baz Luhrmann and may be picked up before it has even reached the printing stage, in fact Wiszniewski is still writing the novel.
The artist began writing the novel in 2000 and although incomplete, passed it to his friend the composer Craig Armstrong. He worked with Luhrmann on Moulin Rouge and passed it to him to have a look over. Now Wiszniewski is in talks with Luhrmann over the sale of the screenplay.
Wiszniewski sees the story, as Scotland on Sunday says:
"I see it as 120 minutes of cinematic musical, comedy murder-mystery."
Sounds interesting, and if that's really what it is like then it's right up Luhrmann's street. Strangely although the story says they are in talks, the headlines say the novel has been picked up. Perhaps they just mean physically!
