National Treasure: The Book of Secrets reviewed

NationalTreasure.jpgThe script for National Treasure: The Book of Secrets (title change coming!) has been reviewed and it's supposed to be as good as the original. For me that doesn't bode well as the original was a pretty poor film.

National Treasure was a great DVD release, but was filled with some really strained plot twists and turns. I groaned my way through it and the scenes of verbal deduction were like classroom lectures reading from a badly written essay.

However people liked it and the second film is on its way. The script review from Latino Review through Obsessed With Film get's a B Grade.

The cast are back in the sequel, apart from Sean Bean who had some sense, and you better watch out as there's some heavy spoilers to be had.

In this one, Gates and crew are looking for…THE LOST CITY OF GOLD.

What is the Book of Secrets referred to in the title? Well, it ain’t the missing pages of Booth’s diary. Booth’s missing pages are the first clue they find that leads to other clues. In the first film, The Declaration of Independence held a clue, in the sequel, THE BOOK OF SECRETS is the super secret book only seen by THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. The Book of Secrets holds a clue to the whereabouts of The Lost City of Gold.

Oh so they have to steal something from the President in order to go through a series of incredibly contrived clues which hold no intrigue whatsoever and happen upon an ending that puts certain characters into conflict with a nice, well rounded resolution at the end. Yep, that's the sequel to the first film alright.

I bet you everyone out there loved the first film!

Despite my constant moaning about cage i didn't mind the first one. Not saying it was good and while i didn't choose to watch it(i.e. wasn't my turn for the dvd rental choice) i kindof enjoyed it.

Ihad to force myself through the over explaining and sometimes unexplainable reasons for the clues, but think its a enjoyable tv movie.

If this was going straight to dvd then i'd understand, but releasing it big-budget style is confusing. Will wait for it to be the last dvd rental choice before watching it.

They don't want films in Hollywood. What they want is a soundtrack they can sell.
