Russian 9th Company eight clips online

9thCompany.jpg9th Company (9-ya rota) is one of the biggest films to come out of Russia in recent years, and until Night Watch (Filmstalker review) came along, it held the high earnings top spot. Now there are eight clips online for you to see what all the fuss is about.

The film charts the progress of a group of young Russian soldiers who work their way through boot camp and into the perils of the Afghanistan war where they engage in the battle of the Djardan "3234" Heights, a very real battle which makes them heroes in their homeland.

The eight clips are over at I Spit On Your Movie [Flash] and show some superior film making and cinematography, particularly during the confusion and madness of battle.

Have a look at the clips, and if the next one doesn't play automatically, as it didn't with me, just hit play again and then hit next and you'll be onto the next one.

9th Company is gaining a UK release on the 16th of February with a French TV premiere the day after. No news on any US release as yet.

I'll be interested to see how the Russian view of the Afghanistan war comes through in this film, and from the clips it seems to focus on the plight of the young soldiers in war and honestly shows the well prepared forces of the Afghanistan rebels.

Actors are fools to complain about the public's attention. They should be glad to have it, not claim they dislike it, and yet go out of their way to seek it.
- Gregory Peck
