Silver buys a second Wonder Woman film

Bilson-WonderWoman-Small.jpgStrangely despite Joel Silver already having Joss Whedon on the books to write and direct the Wonder Woman film, he's just partnered up with Warner Brothers and bought another speculative script on the same topic. How strange.

According to sources through The Hollywood Reporter, the script comes from new writers Matthew Jennison and Brent Strickland, and obviously hasn't even been written yet! Interestingly this script places Wonder Woman against the backdrop of World War II.

The speculative script was going round studios and it dropped on Silver's desk, when he read it he was supposedly very impressed and bought it. There could be various reasons for this, backup for Whedon's script in case it never comes through, writers to polish up his version afterwards, getting another script for a sequel, but the most popular to date seems to be that they've bought it so there wouldn't be another Wonder Woman film jostling for position with their's, especially one with such a good script.
