BAFTA winners announced

BAFTA.jpgSo the BAFTA's were announced last night and the new host Jonathon Ross tried to live up to the splendour of Stephen Fry, unfortunately he didn't manage too well and it was only near the end where he got a couple of decent laughs. Still, it was a good night for speeches and a great night for British Film.

In the main article you'll find the complete list of BAFTA winners. For me there were a couple of great moments. Ricky Gervais and Simon Pegg gave funny speeches, as did Jake Gyllenhaal, surprisingly. Paul Greengrass, Forest Whitaker, Helen Mirren and Anne V. Coates gave wonderful speeches which were really quite genuine and humbling.

So now you know some names of the winners, but what did they win for, and who took away the Best Picture? Well, here are the answers.

Well done to United 93 (Filmstalker Review), but I'm still incredibly surprised that it wasn't up for Best Film considering it was up for Best British Film, and well done to the Scottish Red Road. What do you think of some of these winners (listing courtesy of Yahoo News?

No surpise on the Actor and Actress categories, and I think that's a straight walk to the Oscars, and let me say quite rightly so. However supporting roles? Greengrass and United 93 for Best Director?

Working with Jimmy Stewart in It's a Wonderful Life was very demanding. He's so natural, so realistic, that I never knew whether he was talking to me or doing the scene.
