Stalked: Big casting: Horsemen, Fireflies, What Just Happened and Korean Western
Three of Korea's top actors have joined Kim Jee-woon's Korean western The Good, the Bad and the Weird, and there's two announcements of impressive casts for The Horsemen, Fireflies in the Garden, and the Levinson film What Just Happened?
The production company announced today that the Korean western that was inspired by Sergio Leone films, himself inspired by Asian films, will star Lee Byung-heon (A Bittersweet Life) in the Good role, Jung Woo-sung (The Restless) as the Bad role, and Song Kang-ho (The Host - Filmstalker review) as the Weird. Shame for him. It's a US$10 million project, and according to Variety is set in Manchuria in the early 1900's. Sounds a great cast to start with, surely this has Hollywood purchase written all over it?
Patrick Fugit, Lou Taylor Pucci, Clifton Collins, Jr. , Barry Shabaka Henley, Neil McDonough and Peter Stormare have joined the crime thriller The Horsemen already starring Dennis Quaid and Ziyi Zhang, Variety tells us. The film is about a detective who has grown apart from his sons since his wife's death, and at his lowest ebb he's pulled into the investigation of serial killings which are based around the prophecy of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Another very strong cast.
Fireflies in the Garden is a film about love, commitment and family in the face of unexpected tragedy reports Variety, and it is set to star Julia Roberts, Carrie-Anne Moss, Ryan Reynolds and Emily Watson. It's Dennis Lee's first film from his own script, and the reason he commands such a good cast? He won a student Academy Award for his short film Jesus Henry Christ.
Robert De Niro, Sean Penn, Bruce Willis, Stanley Tucci, John Turturro and Kristen Stewart have signed to the Barry Levinson comedy What Just Happened? Art Linson wrote a screenplay based on ideas from his own memoirs. De Niro plays a movie producer trying to keep some form of self respect in the Hollywood business and all the time coping with the split in his second marriage. The story comes from Variety through Coming Soon. Another big cast and a big film.
