Wahlberg tells more of Departed sequels

MarkWahlberg.jpgPreviously I wrote about how Mark Wahlberg had said that there was a sequel and a prequel in the works for The Departed and that Robert De Niro was being talked to regarding the sequel. Well now some more information has come out about the proposed sequel, and Wahlberg tells what role De Niro would be playing.

According to Empire through Jo Blo, the role will be much more political and the sequel looks into the corruption much deeper.

"They told me they wanted to try to do it...They’re talking about bringing in [Robert] De Niro to play a senator or a congressman. You know, the corruption obviously going deeper and higher up the ranks — reaching up the political chain."

According to Wahlberg the film is set to start shooting at the end of this year at the earliest. Of course this could all be Departed hype, but then again, maybe it isn't. Either way I can't see the story progressing well from the last especially since Wahlberg says his character is involved in the sequel.
