A Crank sequel?

Crank_Poster.jpgI actually enjoyed Crank (Filmstalker review), it was a wild ride and superb visually, it really did get the heart racing. So to hear that there's a sequel beginning the process to possible completion, I'm excited.

variety are saying that the filmmakers are in the early stages of developing a sequel, and that's all the news there is really, and I'm desperate for more. Jo Blo, who carry the Variety story, don't even have anything else.

The question is how are they going to make this sequel? Will it be a prequel? Are they just taking the concept to the new film? What could they possibly do to top the film? Will they bring back the excellent Jason Statham?

Have you actually seen Crank? What did you think? Any ideas? Can I stop asking questions to fill out this post?!

I loved Crank, which came as a bit of a surprise since I don't think Statham does much more than play himself when he appears in films. However, much of what made Crank so enjoyable (aside from the direction) was Statham's performance so it's hard to imagine any kind of sequel/prequel without him in it.

I can't remember if you've seen Lucky Number Slevin but I liked that too, despite the critical thumbs down it seemed to receive from most, for similar reasons - interesting visual style, black humour, and lots of twists and turns.

I thought Crank was great. One of the best, if not THE best, action film of last year.

But I don't see how they'll make a sequel. It might be the same charcter(s), but the greatness of Crank was the storyline (like "Speed", but Statham was the bus).

It'll be like Die Hard 2. Unnecessary and not anywhere near as good.

Oh yes Ian, I've seen Lucky Number Slevin, I liked the style of it too (take a look on the site - hit Film Reviews on the navigation drop down.)

I'm glad there are other people out there who like the film. Drew, totally with you on the sequel, definitely not necessary.

I was actually disappointed with Crank compare to Statham in the Transporter movies which were both excellent. Don't know how you could make a sequel with the way the movie ended.
