Tobey Maguire is adding fuel to the fire around that question that is, will Spider-Man 3 be the last in the series? According to him it'll be the last with him acting in it anyway.

The Sunday Mail newspaper has comments from Maguire while he was on a recent promotion for The Good German in Australia.

"To me it seems like this is a natural point for the team to break up...We have a lot of story conclusions that were going along for the main characters for the first two movies and we kind of tie almost everything up for the third movie...It feels like a trilogy to me and it feels like the end..."

Well those comments through AceShowbiz sound pretty final from him. Could this be the end of the road for Spider-Man with Maguire? Does this mean we'll have to see a new Spidey cast if he leaves? I would also suspect that if he does go then we're likely to see the rest of the cast split, because a main character change is never a good thing.
