Shyamalan chooses Wahlberg for Happening

MarkWahlberg.jpgIt's been confirmed that Mark Wahlberg is in the new M. Night Shyamalan film The Happening, this confirms the rumour we had earlier this month.

The Happening is the story of the planet Earth evolving to fight against the disease that is the human race, and with the release of a toxin, people start killing each other and themselves without another thought.

The news comes from Variety through Coming Soon.

It looks like they are heading for a Friday the 13th release date 2008. Sounds good and might make it even more scary. Shyamalan also had a few things to say about the star:

"Mark has a unique blend of charisma, humanity, authenticity and skillfulness as an actor...All of which coalesced at this moment in his career, making him the perfect person to take on the role of Eliot Moore, the science teacher at the center of this event."

I'm quite surprised by this. Sure that Wahlberg is a strong actor, but more the action type than the thriller horror type. It either says something about the film, or the direction that Shyamalan is going to take him. How do you feel about the casting, and indeed Shyamalan's next film?

Well the casting is not a problem because I definitely like Wahlberg - can't wait for The Shooter to be released here!

As for Shyamalan, I always look forward to all his projects so this is good news!

Sorry Simone have to agree with u only half way! I hate and deteste Shyamalan. His stuff really stink to high heaven.. "Lady in the water" was a classic case of dogshit on a plate!!

That's alright Mike. You also didnt like his other films pre-Lady in the Water?
