Sigourney Weaver strips as Gypsy Rose Lee
According to rumour Sigourney Weaver is to play the part of Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous burlesque stripper. Yes, you heard me right.
The film Gypsy and Me is set to be based on the book My G-String Mother: At Home and Backstage with Gypsy Rose Lee written by her son Eric Lee Preminger, whose father is the famous director Otto Preminger.
Now pinch of salt time, this story comes from WENN through Starpulse News Blog, but it does seem to be more than the average rumour.
Weaver will executive produce as well as star, and it does say that the film will take place in the late fifties, which is at the end of her stripping career, just when Rose Lee decided she was too old to strip anymore and reinvented herself as an author, turning her life story into a musical.
Sounds interesting, and something totally unexpected from Weaver. I think she's one of the most talented actresses around and we need to see more of her dramatic acting, and yet I would love to see her one more time in leather, packed with attitude, and killing Aliens. Sorry, I can't let it go.
