Wanted sequel already?

Wanted_Cover.jpgTalking of comic books, it looks like the fantastic comic book Wanted will be getting a sequel, but in film only, and the first film hasn't even been shot yet.

According to the Scottish author Mark Millar, he will never write a sequel, but Universal and the Director, Timur Bekmambetov, are talking about one right now.

"I am NEVER writing a sequel to Wanted. The director has an idea for a sequel based on these characters and ideas and they're already making plans with the studio. But I am absolutely not doing a sequel to the comic-book. I always saw the things as self-contained. It was one guy's journey."

His comments come from his own forums at MillarWorld.tv through Superhero Hype also reveal that the casting is a black art that Millar really doesn't understand.

"I now understand why casting directors are so well-paid. It really is a skill to figure out who can bring a character to life and work together as a team. There are four big names in this picture and Angelina is the third of the four released. There is another big male star (to be) announced inside the next week or two. But the people involved in this are already way, way beyond anything I imagined for the first movie I actually own."

I really do think that this is set to be big. The comic book itself is very good, and I can only hope that they stay true to that story. The film version already stars James McAvoy in the lead with Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman backing him up. I can't wait to find out the fourth.

Oh. I'm not sure I like the sounds of this too much.

I agree that the comic has a great premise and could very well be a fantastic action packed movie but it's a bit premature to be talking sequel.
