Bana joins McAdams in The Time Traveler's Wife
Previously we heard that Rachel McAdams was signed for The Time Traveler's Wife, now news is that Eric Bana is also on board as the traveler himself.
The story is about a man who has a gene that causes him to involuntarily travel back and forth in time. Here's what I had about the plot first time around:
Clare, a beautiful art student, and Henry, an adventuresome librarian, who have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six, and were married when Clare was twenty-three and Henry thirty-one. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity in his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.
The Bana casting story comes from Yahoo News.
Robert Schwentke is set to direct, he also directed Flightplan (Filmstalker review), so expect hugely over emphasised clues to some of the more twisty plot moments, although to be fair that film was directed really well.
This sounds a really interesting film, I love the complex nature of the plot and I really hope that it's not turned into some slushy love story that just happens to have some complicated plot in the background, or that they think it's too complicated for Hollywood audiences and tone the whole thing down.
