Darren Aronofsky to direct Noah's Ark film
Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic film will be one of Noah, the flood, and his building of an Ark to save the animals and his family.
When Darren Aronofsky was a mere ten years old he won a United Nations competition for his poem about the flood as seen through Noah's eyes, and he says that the story has interested him ever since.
Yet according to his comments in The Guardian through SciFi Wire he's not going to make your average biblical epic:
"Noah was the first person to plant vineyards and drink wine and get drunk...It's there in the Bible - it was one of the first things he did when he reached land. There was some real survivor's guilt going on there. He's a dark, complicated character."
We heard about this some time ago, and back then some of us were scratching our heads, but now that he's revealed the direction he's taking on it then perhaps it's not such a big leap after all?
I like the idea that he's going to make the characters real, although does the fact that he talks about how Noah is represented in the bible mean that he's going to take exactly from the text?
