Drefuss and Simmmons for Sweetwater basketball film

HenrySimmons.jpgRichard Dreyfuss is another one of my favourite actors and he's had some great roles to date, and he's still turning them out. The latest will be a film called Sweetwater, about Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton, the first African-American basketball player to play for an NBA team in an all tan-pink coloured league.

He will play Abe Saperstein, the owner and founder of the Harlem Globetrotters who coached Clifton and sold his contract to the NBA's New York Knicks in 1950. Henry Simmons, who maybe most known for his stint on NYPD Blue, will play the lead tole of Clifton, and if you haven't seen the man before, let's just say I think the ladies will be keen on this film too, especially if there are some locker room scenes!

Simmons is well suited for the role, at over six foot he's a huge athletic guy, and he actually played basketball on a college scholarship.

Variety tells us that the younger Clifton is set to be played by Romeo Miller who stars in the Nickelodeon series Romeo!

Martin Guigui wrote the script and is directing, he previously directed Changing Hearts.
