Next clips fail to impress

NicolasCage.jpgEven without the pre-release word that the Nicolas Cage starrer Next is going to be rubbish these new clips online confirm it.

Next is an adaptation of another great Philip K. Dick story, The Golden Man, which has a quite different plot to the film.

The Dick story is about the human race being overcome by powerful mutants in a post-apocalyptic future. The government capture a golden skinned man and he escapes using his ability to see into the future. The film is about a man who can see two minutes into the future being hunted by a US anti-terrorism unit in order to use him to find out when and where a nuclear bomb is going to be detonated within America.

The film stars Cage, Julianne Moore and Jessica Biel and is directed by Lee Tamahori.

When you see the four clips over at MoviesOnline you'll see that there's a level of cheese throughout, and I can't really describe what it is, perhaps it's just the way Cage is seen nowadays. Not only that but the way they've chosen to portray the future possibilities just doesn't work for me. See what you think, is it working for you?

Lee Tamahori hasn't made a good film in over 10 years with the Mamet penned "THE EDGE"

Talk about the failure to live up to the promise of ONCE WERE WARRIORS....

I agree though, NEXT looks awful. Julianne Moore also seems to have a talent for picking dumb big blockbuster fare (Children of Men being a huge! exception)

Yeah, these clips, and the trailer, didn't do anything for me but I have a feeling I'll still be making the trip to theaters.
