St. Trinian's remake gains more big names
The British St. Trinian's remake has just announced two new cast members hot on the heels of being rescued financially after a major budget shortfall. Toby Jones, most known for Infamous, and Lena Headey from 300 have joined the cast along with Celia Imrie, Anna Chancellor (you'll recognise her when you see her), Lily Cole and newcomer Gemma Arteton.
The casting news from Variety adds to the already confirmed list from the previous story which told us that :
Colin Firth and Rupert Everett have signed up...Barnaby Thompson will direct...Emily Watson and comedian Russell Brand...Caterina Murino ("Casino Royale"), Jodie Whittaker ("Venus"), Talulah Riley and Tamsin Egerton; Richard E. Grant and Stephen Fry...
I still don't understand why the British film industry is now heading into our own film history to remake classics when we should be concentrating on new and original material from some of our excellent talent. Still, it's a growing cast and there might just be a glimmer of hope for it, I just pray it doesn't turn too twee.
