Stalked: Fiasco Heights and Irena Sendler

Book.jpgMore script news. Fiasco Heights is a Sin City style thriller and the incredible wartime story of Irena Sendler is to come to the big screen, finally.

Kyle Ward's speculative script has been bought by Universal and is set to be produced by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes. Fiasco Heights is a thriller which will be set in a "hyper-real" noir world much like that of Sin City and it focuses on a notorious hitman who teams up with a failed private eye to go in search of a missing woman and a strange briefcase. Variety has the story, and it's important to realise that this may not be filmed like Sin City, but the setting is similar.

The story of Irena Sendler was quietened down after the war, but it is about to get a film treatment. She was a Polish social worker who managed to smuggle some 2,500 children out of the Warsaw ghetto and kept track of their identities using names hidden in jars. Despite being caught by the Gestapo, tortured and sentenced to death, she was saved and managed to continue her work while she was in hiding.

Her memoirs, Irena Sendler: The Mother of the Holocaust Children, have been sold along with her story and Lawrence Spagnola will adapt them for a film script which will be taken to the studios to try and secure a deal.

The story from Yahoo Movies sounds a heart wrenching and wonderful tale which most definitely deserves to be told, and yet it faces som stiff competition from films that have covered similar ground and so will have to take a careful look at the direction it is taking.
