The Golden Age, Elizabeth sequel trailer online
The trailer for The Golden Age is online. For those of you who didn't know this is the sequel to Elizabeth starring the wonderful Cate Blanchett, written by Michael Hirst and directed by Shekhar Kapur.
Blanchett heads a stunning cast in that film, a film which gathered a number of awards. The Golden Age has the same writer and director, with Chris Emposimato and William Nicholson sharing writing duties, and carries another strong cast, although not with as many heavyweight names as before.
It looks into the relationship between Elizabeth I and Sir Walter Raleigh, played by Clive Owen, and examines the strength of the Queen at a time when the overwhelming Spanish Armada was pitched against England.
It certainly sounds impressive, and the trailer matches it well. Blanchett shows such range in just these short clips, and she commands the screen when she bursts forth her rage. See for yourself with the trailer right here.
The trailer comes from Daily Motion through Coming Soon.
I wasn't stirred enough to see the original, but there's much more passion and voice in the sequel's trailer for me. I could well be going to see this in the cinema on the strength of this short clip. Although is perhaps Owen just sounding a little misplaced?
