Burton's Sweeny Todd makes cast cuts

Hammer_Dracula.jpgThere are reports out that Christopher Lee and a number of actors have been cut from the Sweeny Todd film before their scenes have even been filmed.

It all sounds a bit confusing, but it seems that Tim Burton had written a number of new characters into the Sweeny Todd musical and DreamWorks confirmed today that they've all been removed.

It seems that all the ghost characters Burton had written in have been dropped from the film, including Christopher Lee, but the trooper that he is isn't complaining. Through the Telegraph and Coming Soon he says:

"It would have been worse if I had done the scenes, but I never got to film them. It's a shame as the lyrics were wonderful, but these things happen."

It's interesting that the characters have been dropped before the filming, but it's especially surprising that they're talking about someone like Lee. Anthony Head and Peter Bowles could both be looking to have gone the same way too.
