Deathrace 3000 casting rumours
We've already heard that Jason Statham may well be appearing in Paul W.S. Anderson's new Deathrace 3000 as the lead driver Frankenstein, but now there are rumours of more names attached, and these are far bigger than you might expect.
There are offers out to Glenn Close then Joan Allen to play the warden, Laurence Fishburne for the coach and Djimon Hounsou for the role of Machine Gun Joe, Frankenstein's main rival.
You know I could believe Jason Statham appearing in this remake of the cult classic, but Glen Close and Djimon Hounsou? The rumour comes from Latino Review through Bloody Disgusting, and their scooper also says that Statham is secured for the main role.
Death Race 2000 is the story of a brutal cross-country race, the aim of which is to kill the most pedestrians for the most points. It's a cult classic and the original starred David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone as Frankenstein and Machine Gun Joe. Frankenstein is the long running champion and is idolised by the people, the Goverment are too scared of letting him die and so continually replace him, and parts of him, to keep the character alive along with the hope of the people.
It's cheesy and over the top, but it's great fun too. There's just no way I can really see these three top actors joining the film, can you?
