Gerard Butler has taken another step up as the news comes out that he's going to be directed by Brian De Palma in The Untouchables: Capone Rising, presumably playing the young character that Sean Connery played in The Untouchables, Jimmy Malone.

Nicolas Cage is now the weak point of this film, he will play the younger Capone, the role that Robert De Niro stamped as his own.

The news from Variety through Coming Soon doesn't actually say what part Gerard Butler will play, but the bet is an awfully safe one don't you think?
