Paul Newman retires

Redford-Newman.jpgSome sad news today for Paul Newman and Robert Redford fans, it seems that the hopeful teaming of the two great actors has just been put to rest as Paul Newman has announced his retirement from acting.

On Good Morning America through FemaleFirst.co.uk he announced the sad news:

"I've been doing it for 50 years. That's enough. I'm not able to act any more at the level I would want to."

Paul Newman has had an amazing acting career and really was at the top of his game even during his last onscreen performance in Road to Perdition. However the hopeful retreaming of Newman and Robert Redford, which both actors had been talking about, looks like it won't be going ahead now.

The two actors teamed up for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid as well as The Sting, and I think it's a shame that we won't see them on screen together again, however part of me is glad too. Now we'll remember their acting together for these performances.

So what is Newman going to do instead of acting? He's off to run an organic restaurant near his home. What a superb way to retire.
