Witherspoon on Midnight, the Bunny Lake killer

ReeseWitherspoon.jpgIs this the film that Reese Witherspoon dropped out of Bunny Lake is Missing for? She's just been announced as signing up for a remake of a 1939 comedy called Midnight. The upside of this is that it is being written, and possibly directed, by Michael Arndt.

The announcement comes from Teletext who have Michael Arndt as saying that this is one of his favourite films and that he's very excited to have Reese Witherspoon on board.

Personally I would have preferred seeing her in Joe Carnahan's Bunny Lake is Missing rather than her appearing in a comedy, mind you with Arndt attached it might just push it that little bit further towards quality. I just feel that Witherspoon showed so much talent in Walk the Line (Filmstalker review) but could so easily be in danger of being drawn back to the kind of comedies that started her out in Hollywood, and that would be a real shame.
