Bernal and Glover join Blindness
Gael Garcia Bernal, Danny Glover and Alice Braga are the latest names to join Fernando Meirelles' film Blindness, joining the previously announced Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo, making it quite an interesting cast, something which the film is already sounding.
The story is about a disease that sweeps through the population making everyone blind, concentrating on the breakdown in society and humanity. At the same time though there seems to be a much more individual story in there, as one woman who actually retains her sight pretends to be blind so that she can stay and look after her husband.
According to the story from Yahoo News, Gael García Bernal is set to play the King of Ward 3, Danny Glover will narrate the tale and Alice Braga will play the girl with dark glasses, whoever she is. This reminds me that I must pick up the novel on which the film is based, Blindness by José Saramago (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com
).
It is an intriguing story and the novel is a Nobel Prize winner, so that adds tremendous weight to the production, then looking at the talent both in front of and behind the camera makes me think that this is a film well worth holding out for.
