Chiklis talks The Shield film

MichaelChiklis.jpgThe Shield is a television series, I know, and the possibility of a film based on the characters is a very long way off, if at all. However Vic Mackey aka the awesome Michael Chiklis has been talking about such a possibility.

For those of you who don't watch The Shield I would highly recommend it. It's the story of a specialist team of cops whose focus is gang crime, and they just happen to be in one of the most gang ridden areas of L.A. However these guys don't play by the rule book, in fact they have their own rule book and...well it gets very complicated. Believe me it's a superb series and really draws you into the characters, and it has had some amazing cliffhangers to date.

Not only that but it has had some superb talent in it too, not just the main actors Walton Goggins, Kenny Johnson, David Rees Snell, Benito Martinez, Jay Karnes, CCH Pounder, Catherine Dent and Michael Jace to name but a few, there's also been Glenn Close, Forest Whitaker, Michael Peña and Anthony Anderson.

Now Michael Chiklis is preparing to film the final series, series seven, and so the questions about a film version have begun. Over at MTV Movies Blog they asked him just that:

"Wow, there are a lot of questions about the potential of a Shield movie these days...I don't dismiss the possibility at all...It would all really depend on the idea. We are very, very protective of The Shield...

I don't think The Shield will be a movie...But I think that there's potential for Vic Mackey to be in a movie."

Now there's an interesting thought. I doubt a film of the series would work either as the series has been something in its own right and explored all the characters really well. They've covered everything in the series and built and up destroyed many of the characters.

A film of Vic though? Well it could work, however I don't think that's the central strength of the series either, that's the group and their belief in each other. So either way I'm not convinced, I think there won't be. What about you, fans of the Shield? Want to see a film and if so which direction could it take?
