Dressed to Kill remake
Dressed to Kill is a classic thriller starring Michael Caine and Angie Dickinson that really manages to keep tension and surprise to a maximum, and now it seems to be getting a direct to DVD remake that will no doubt crush its very heart.
Originally Dressed to Kill was written and directed by Brian De Palma, and really showed his unique ability for tension filled cinema. Now this remake is to be written by Rick Alexander, who is also producing a remake of Conan the Barbarian according to Variety.
It is another sign of Hollywood plundering the back catalogue for cash as far as I am concerned, and I know that I could be generalising and being very unfair, and maybe Alexander could create something very special, but this is a Brian De Palma film. What's more is it is a really powerful De Palma film and one with an excellent cast and a wonderfully surprising twist.
It's already been made, and made really well. We've seen this formula before and it doesn't work. Why does Hollywood insist on doing this time and time again? Can anyone really see this film being remade successfully, and who can replace Michael Caine and Angie Dickinson?
