I Am Legend trailer online in HD

WillSmith.jpgAs a stark contrast to the Vantage Point trailer that's been posted is the trailer for I Am Legend. This is the Will Smith starrer that is directly related to the Charlton Heston film The Omega Man and the Vincent Price film The Last Man on Earth, however the ultimate source is I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, although it could easily be The Last Man by Mary Shelley.

Both I Am Legend (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com) and The Last Man (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com) cover the same idea, a plague hits the world, one man is left alive in a humanised world slowly being reclaimed by nature. However some time into his isolation he realises he's not alone, and there's something that's not quite human out there. You can see why this film hit on Heston's sensibilities, and from all accounts this is the version of the tale we're going to see on screen with Will Smith. It's a shame as there was so much potential in the story for something more than The Omega Man all over again.

Now you can see the trailer over at Apple Trailers [QT:iPod:S:M:L:480p:720p:1080p].

I wasn't that impressed. Sure it had the "oh wow, look at the effects moments", but apart from that it's Will Smith walking around a CGI city. Although saying that, he does drive a cool muscle car at one point.

I agree Richard, nice car! I really enjoyed I am Legend by Richard Matheson and when i heard they were making a film i had hoped that it would be in the style of the book with some parts updated as it was written quite a while ago instead of being like The Omega Man. Still quite interested in watching it but the trailer didn't really excite me

i wasnt' really over excited about it, but it did get me thinking about the movie, and i guess that's what it's all about at this stage.

i actually think this is the perfect move for Smith after I robot, and really, i can't wait to see the film.

my main gripe with the trailer is they didn't show what HAPPENED to humanity. of course, i know myself, having been exposed to the source material, but it would be nice to see what the face this movie is going to put on it looks like
