There's a rumour going about just now that adds a great deal of weight to the development of The Thomas Crown Affair sequel The Topkapi Affair by Pierce Brosnan's company. It seems that a major role in the film has been offered to Angelina Jolie and she may well accept.

We knew that the sequel is based on an old Peter Ustinov film called Topkapi and adapted to work with the Thomas Crown style and character, something that Pierce Brosnan had talked about before.

Clint over at Moviehole has the rumour and expects the announcement to be made very soon.

Well Angelina Jolie would be a great replacement for the Rene Russo. female character slot, but the question is will she say yes? I'm really not so sure that she will want to, especially with such a blatant remake. However, let's be fair, the Thomas Crown Affair remake was actually very good, and the Topkapi sequel might just have something special up its sleeve.
