Kevin Spacey's film career over?
Kevin Spacey is a superb actor, of that there's no doubt, so it is incredibly sad news that according to reports he's confirmed the rumours that have been around for some time, he's done with acting.
According to the actor himself he's really not interested in his personal film career anymore, he seems fed up with the whole Hollywood system:
"I don't care about my personal acting career anymore. I'm done with it. After 10 years of making movies and going better than I ever could have imagined, I sort of had to ask myself, 'What am I supposed to do with all of this success that I have had?'Am I just going to keep making movie after movie and be concerned with all of that 'Are you up, are you down, are you hot, are you not?'--and I don't really care
What I really care about is the remarkable experience of being able to be a part of bringing people together."
That's the quote on WENN through Hollywood.com, and although it's not definite that he won't ever be in a film again, it does sound like it's not that important to him.
I hope it means that he will still appear in film when the roles are right, but it doesn't seem that hopeful right now, and I think that's a terrible shame. Just look at some of Kevin Spacey's incredible roles.
Glengarry Glen Ross, Swimming With Sharks, The Usual Suspects, Se7en, Outbreak, L.A. Confidential. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, The Negotiator,American Beauty,K-PAX,The Shipping News,Goldmember, The Life of David Gale, Beyond the Sea and Superman Returns...
Now we could well be missing him from our screens. I honestly hope this is a misquote and we do see him in some selective roles. What do you think, will you miss him? What were your favourite Spacey roles?
