Ramis' Year One has Black, Apatow and Owen on board
Jack Black is signed onto a film that is being kept firmly under wraps, but the few details we do know are incredibly interesting for comedy fans.
Year One is being written and directed by Harold Ramis, produced by Judd Apatow and Owen Wilson, and according to the Empire article, two writers from the US Office series, Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, are helping out with the script.
Now add all that together, throw in Jack Black, and I think you have a very promising comedy, we just don't know what on.
Harold Ramis has had the original idea for the script, and that's saying something in Hollywood these days where an original idea is scarcer than Jack Bauer on a day off. Still there's nothing being said about what's behind the script. I guess we'll have to wait and hear.
I just hope it doesn't turn out to be another run of the mill American comedy filled with bodily humour and cheap jokes that we've been seeing so many of. I do expect a little more from Ramis though, so this might be a good marriage of Ramis, Apatow and Black.
