Romulus, My Father trailer online for Bana and Potente
The trailer for Romulus, My Father has appeared online over at the official site. The film is based on Raimond Gaita's critically acclaimed memoir which tells the story of Romulus and his wife Christina who struggle against adversity to bring up their son Raimond.
Richard Roxburgh directs, a man you will recognise from many roles himself, perhaps most for that of the Duke in Moulin Rouge!, but also for roles such as that in Van Helsing. Eric Bana plays Romulus and Franka Potente Christina. Here's how the official site describes the story:
It is the tale of a boy trying to balance a universe described by his deeply moral father, against the experience of heartbreaking absence and neglect from a depressive mother. It is, ultimately, a story of impossible love that celebrates the unbreakable bond between father and son.
I've never read the book, and the synopsis doesn't grab me much, but what does is Eric Bana in a dramatic role, Franka Potente being given a powerful part, and the appearance of Marton Csokas who is another strong actor. I have no real idea about the story or Gaita himself, but the trailer does seem to have something to it. Plus I'm a fan of Potente having seen a few films she's been in, and not just the Hollywood ones, I think she's a very underrated actress who deserves to be seen more.
You can see it over at the official site [QT:S] through editman over at Movie-List Forums. Just select the trailer from the top menu.
So far it has only received an Australian release. I wonder if we might see it appear elsewhere?
