Silver Surfer spin-off gets a huge writer
The Silver Surfer is set to go solo as the news arrives that a spin off film has begun development and a writer is attached, not just any writer though, it's the stunning J. Michael Straczynski.
There's been word of the Silver Surfer getting his own film since it was announced that he was going to be in the Fantastic Four sequel, and so it was just a matter of time before something was started. However, this doesn't mean it's a definite just yet, if the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer fails then we'll probably not see this make it through, however if it is...
It is superb news that they've brought on board the superb writing talents of J. Michael Straczynski from the LA Times through Latino Review.
Having spent a huge amount of time bringing the amazing science fiction series Babylon 5 to life and now the direct to video films, he has a couple of feature scripts on the go for other Directors. There's The Changeling for Clint Eastwood, They Marched Into Sunlight for Paul Greengrass and World War Z for an as yet unnamed director.
All three scripts are set for big film adaptations, and with such big name directors as well, Straczynski is really taking a step up from his science fiction beginnings, and with a Silver Surfer script we can be assured that the Surfer is going to get the treatment he deserves. None of this children's light and funny action film stuff, but a proper Silver Surfer story. Could there be a vetter writer?
