The Echo casting and 2007 Gone remake
Yam Laranas, the man behind the excellent Sigaw (Filmstalker review) and the coming remake The Echo, has just announced the next cast member to star alongside the already announced Jesse Bradford.
Amelia Warner has starred in Aeon Flux and more recently Gone, and will now star alongside Jesse Bradford in Yam Laranas' remake of his own film Sigaw called The Echo. Which, by the way, is a superb film.
You can read the announcement Laranas made on his own site. She looks like a good choice, I've never seen her acting to be honest.
I have to say though I'm totally distracted from this news by her IMDB listing. For listed there are two Gone films. At first I thought this might just be different films, but read the two blurbs. Here's Gone by Director Ringan Ledwidge:
"A contemporary psychological thriller in which a young British couple travelling through the Australian outback become involved with a mysterious and charismatic American whose motive for imposing his friendship upon them becomes increasingly suspect and sinister."
Okay, now let's take a look at Gone by Director John Landis:
"A young British couple traveling in Australia accept a ride with a secretive American."
Very similar, but not totally close. Hold up though, in both films Scott Mechlowicz, Amelia Warner and Shaun Evans star. So sorry to hijack the story Yam, but this is weird. Is this the first 2007 film to be remade...and with the same cast?
