The Flock trailer with Gere and Danes
The Flock is a film I hadn't really heard that much about, and yet it comes a very strong Korean Director, has had some reshoots by another strong Director, and stars Richard Gere and Claire Danes, and finally we have a trailer.
The film has Richard Gere playing the older cop training his young replacement Claire Danes, and their first case together is to investigate a kidnapped girl who he fears is connected to a paroled sex offender he has been investigating.
Now, let's just look back at that introduction to the film, Wai Keung Lau is the Director who is also responsible for Tau man ji D (Initial D) (Filmstalker review) and the original Infernal Affairs (Filmstalker review) series. The man who was responsible for reshoots on The Flock is Niels Mueller, who directed The Assassination of Richard Nixon (Filmstalker review), a truly superb film.
I haven't heard anything about these reshoots, what amount were needed or why they were needed. All we have from the past news stories is that Avril Lavigne is in the film.
The trailer is a bit of a mess, it could be the Japanese trailer, coming as it does from keita.jp [QT:M] through michalz00 over at Movie-List Forums.
Have a look yourself, but there are just shots of Danes and Gere looking around confusedly, sudden stops and starts in the dramatic music, and no real story thread to it. So really it just seems to be some completed clips from the film. Combine this with the news of the reshoots and I wonder if we're looking at a bit of a disaster.
