Thundercats is CGI not live-action
Last week I wrote about the Thundercats film being made, but it seems that the story wasn't totally accurate.
The original story told us that it would be a live action film, something which I doubted could work and thought would look quite cheesy, now Warner Brothers are saying that it's actually going to be a CGI feature.
There's nothing else different about the originally reported story, just that it will be full CGI rather than actors made to look like cats. Well, that's one layer of cheesiness out of the story anyway.
The update comes from the LA Times through Cinematical.
I still think this is going to be a tough one to pull off, and I'm not really sure how strong it will be on film. After all half cat half human creatures from another world fighting an ancient Mummy on a strange planet might not translate that well to the screen. Then again, the Turtles work with a clever script, so why can't the cats? One thing is for sure, it's going to be a lot easier to make work with an animated version!
