Escape to Witch Mountain remake

EscapetoWitchMountain.jpgWalt Disney are remaking (re-imagining) their 1975 film Escape to Witch Mountain. Entitled simply Witch Mountain, it will be directed by Andy Fickman, currently completing Fame, and written by Matt Lopez.

The original Escape to Witch Mountain was based on a science fiction novel by Alexander Key that told the story of a brother and sister with paranormal powers who have to run from a group who wish to use their powers for their own goals. Their powers hold a secret that leads them to Witch Mountain and an amazing discovery about themselves.

The original had two sequels, one that cast Bette Davis and Christopher Lee, and another that was a TV movie hoping to spawn a TV series. Seems like this film might be live action, rather than animated, and according to The Hollywood Reporter it is a high priority for Disney.

Perhaps there is something to be had from this remake?

holy cow!!! I remember escape and return to witch mountain, but to be honest, I had no idea of the tv movie at all...and that's strange because I watched the disney channel alot as a kid.

witch mountain was actually a pretty good flick as disney films go...not terribly deep, but decidedly well done for what it was trying to do.

i hope this works out. it could be pretty cool if they do it right...
