Harry Potter in HD-DVD and Blu-ray
Unsurprisingly, the Harry Potter film franchise is coming to high definition DVD this year, in the US anyway. It's not headed for one format either, according to the report it will be released on both HD-DVD and Blu-ray in a rather impressive box set.
The working title is currently Harry Potter Years 1-5 Limited Edition Gift Set, a title which I think they could have worked on a bit more - couldn't it have been longer? Warner Brothers revealed the box set during a presentation at the Home Media Expo in Las Vegas according to High Def Digest.
There are no specifications or concrete release date, but it was confirmed that the release would include all five films including Order of the Phoenix, and would be priced at US$149.99 for both versions. The story also mentions that the box set will be in special packaging and include some memorabilia.
This, of course, paves the way for two more box set releases with each of the last two films on them. My advice would be to hold back and get the complete box set once all the films are released. Even then we'll probably be seeing another release after that, one with extra footage etc. Call me cynical, but…
