In The Valley of the Elah trailer online

PaulHaggis.jpgThe trailer for In The Valley of the Elah is online now. Written and directed by Paul Haggis and tells the story of a soldier who returns from Iraq only to go missing upon his arrival home. He is found murdered and an investigation begins to find out what happened. The Police, Army and his own father are all involved and each trying to find out what happened for different reasons, and some want a different version told.

From the trailer the film looks like one emtional journey, something that Paul Haggis is superb at creating, although I am surprised at how little it portrays the film as a story about soldiers and Iraq, and how much more it appears to be a crime thriller. Still, that's not a bad thing, especially with Haggis behind the script and the camera.

Appearing in the film are a host of stars, led by Tommy Lee Jones, Charlize Theron, James Franco, Susan Sarandon, Josh Brolin and Jason Patric.

I do think that the trailer could have gone many ways, and here it's playing on the emotional and thriller angles. You can see for yourself over at UK IGN [Flash:Embed:WMV:QT:Dload].

In The Valley of the Elah is definitely a powerful film filled with great performances and a strong script. Oscars to be had perhaps?
