Jon Favreau speaks on Iron Man publicity
Marvel comic adaptation to films continue with Iron Man which is scheduled for release in May next year. The films stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, forced to create a life support suit to keep him alive after an accident he decides to use the technology in his suit to fight crime.
Not that we'd know anything about it in the UK as of yet ;), but fans of the comic were expecting a teaser trailer in front of Transformers and were disappointed with the lack of one.
First off, he says that while the teaser wasn't in front of Transformers there will be a presentation at Comic Con later this month. He says, "We will split an hour with Marvel and Hulk and plan to cut something together to reward the fans for their interest, support and patience. In addition to our Saturday afternoon presentation, we will be doing a signing and poster giveaway at the Marvel booth on Saturday. Paramount is also doing a rundown of its slate on Thursday which I will do my best to attend as well."
He gives a couple story details saying that while they "took certain liberties to keep things fresh and unexpected" they pretty much stuck to the comic books, which should keep fans happy.
As for rumours of Hilary Swank and Samuel L. Jackson as Shield agents, and even a Favreau cameo he clarifies they are all untrue, but then he coyly adds, "Well, maybe one is true." Any guesses which one? My bet is on the Favreau cameo, merely based on it'd cost him nothing, plus everybody loves giving the nod to Hitchcock.
