Leguizamo joins Shyamalan's The Happening
Filming is going to be starting next month, a date which I can hardly believe since it just seemed like yesterday that the script was being passed around Studios.
Variety have the news about John Leguizamo joining M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening, a film which tells the story of a natural evolution that results in a deadly disease that threatens to wipe out humans from the face of the Earth.
As humans themselves are treated as a disease by the natural evolution of the planet, the Earth evolves and develops a natural toxin that combats them. When released it infects the nearest person causing them to try and kill themselves, much like an antibody works within our own immune system.
I have to say I've not seen Lady in the Water, and my desire for the storytelling of Shyamalan has not been dulled, I'm keen to see this film, and I hope that he continues to make films. After all, in this marketplace of sequels, prequels and revisits, why wouldn't you want to see anything showing imagination and working on a premise that offers something very new? Would you rather see a big cast remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers again?
