Proyas to direct Dracula Year Zero

AlexProyas.jpgAlex Proyas has agreed to direct the Dracula film, Dracula Year Zero. It seems the film will mix both the mythology surrounding Dracula, and also the history of the man who inspired him, Vlad the Impaler.

Bloody Disgusting has the news that he will take the helm of the script by, Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. It would appear that this film, will have a different take to the Dracula portrayed in Bram Stoker’s novel. Perhaps we will see more of Vlad the Impaler, than the legend Dracula. I’d be interested to see how this turns out, especially if it is a truly different take on a horror legend.

Would you be interested in seeing a fresh approach to Dracula? Are you more interested in the mythical Dracula than Vlad the Impaler? Any casting preferences?

Excellent choice. If you haven't yet seen Proyas' Dark City, then you're seriously missing out.

The movie sounds awesome. A dark epic focusing on Vlad would be interesting. It could be a mix between Kingdom of Heaven and 300. I know they made a tv movie on Vlad, but it was lacking. Johnny Depp or Christian Bale would be good choices to play Vlad. I hope this movie does happen as well the official sequel to Dracula. I could see Bill Nighy doing that one.
