Stalked: Beowulf trailer and Izzard replaces Piven in Igor

Beowulf.jpgThere's a trailer online for the new Beowulf film from Robert Zemeckis, that's the one that features the motion capture style from Polar Express, but in all honesty it looks ramped up like nothing before. In fact I'd go so far to say that it almost looks real.

You can see the trailer for Beowulf over at Apple Trailers [QT:S:M:L:iPod] through Latino Review. As usual I'm at work just now and can't actually watch it, so that one will be over to you guys to see what you think.

While we're on CGI, there's a report that Eddie Izzard has joined the Weinstein production of Igor, replacing the previously announced Jeremy Piven as Schadenfreude. The film already carries a great cast including such names as John Cusack, Steve Buscemi and John Cleese, and although the loss of Jeremy Piven is a big one, getting Eddie Izzard to replace him is a stroke of genius. The story comes from The Hollywood Reporter.

Looks like an other trip to Uncanny Valley for Zemeckis.

Yeah, that Beowulf trailer looks pretty darn good.

Why is Ray Wintone the only one who doesn't really look like himself? Jolie looks amazing in it, perfectly life like.

It looks stunning, but it does beg the question why bother? Live action and CGI would have had the same result wouldn't it?

Whatever happened to Gerry Butler's Beowulf?

It's had a very limited release. Hungary and Greece on TV and DVD respectively, limited Canadian, some festivals and a Thailand.

It hasn't had much of a chance really, although I've heard it isn't that great anyway.
