Stalked: Other Side cast, Mad Ones, Mao's Last Dancer and Rachel Stevens
The comedy The Other Side has gained a big list of names for the cast, the Weinstein's are releasing the book and film The Mad Ones about New York organised crime in the sixties, Bruce Beresford is working on the film of the autobiography Mao's Last Dancer, and Rachel Stevens is really wanting to make it in Hollywood.
The Other Side has gained a strong cast with Brittany Murphy, Jason Lee, Giovanni Ribisi, Jim Broadbent, Tim Roth, Eddie Izzard and Lili Taylor all signed up to star under David Michaels direction, according to Variety. The film tells the story of a graduate student, played by Brittany Murphy, who spends the summer working at a scientific institute on a remote island. There she discovers a community of people who are hiding a secret about a terrible tragedy from the past...who isn't these days?
The Weinstein Company have purchased the rights to The Mad Ones, a novel by Tom Folsom that has yet to be written. It follows three brothers in 1960's New York who attempt a revolt against their bosses in the Profaci crime family. The novel is also being published by Weinstein Books according to Variety.
Bruce Beresford has a number of films just waiting to start, but it appears that he's about to take the autobiography of Li Cunxin, a Chinese peasant who became a ballet dancer and defected, to the big screen. The book, Mao's Last Dancer (Amazon.co.uk / Amazon.com), has been adapted by Jan Sardi who wrote the screenplay for Shine. The story comes from Variety.
Finally for this Stalked edition, Rachel Stevens is trying to break into Hollywood according to WENN through Starpulse News Blog, something that we guessed from the story last year that the former S-Club 7 singer was trying to do when we heard the story that she was trying out for the female lead in the awful Steve Martin Pink Panther sequels. Don't do it Rachel, well not with those films anyway. She said that her heart is in acting, she's taking lessons and that she hopes to get an agency soon.
