Wilson is Watchmen's Nite Owl
The cast is gathering for the Watchmen as we now have two very strong hints that Patrick Wilson is indeed the Nite Owl in Zack Snyder's film version of the comic book.
During an interview with reporters about his latest film Lakeview Terrace he said the following:
"I'm not a good liar…so I really shouldn't go into it…Look at the thing I'm reading," he said, motioning to a painting entitled "Owl's Hollow." With a grin, he added: "But, I didn't say anything."
Meanwhile Kerry Washington, one of his co-stars in Lakeview Terrace, said when talking about Watchmen and Nite Owl:
"Isn't that exciting?... It's what he goes into next!... I keep teasing him," she laughed. "Whenever he eats candy or something, I go: 'You're playing a superhero! I don't think you should be eating pretzels!'…He is [supposed to be out of shape], yes. That's what [Wilson] always says. But I always go 'Yeah, but you still want to be defined!"
Both comments come from MTV Movies Blog, and I think it's fair to say that these comments, combined with Patrick Wilson visibly trying to pack on some pounds, confirms that he's appearing as Nite Owl in Watchmen.
So we have Nite Owl played by Patrick Wilson, Ozymandias played by Matthew Goode, Rorschach played by Jackie Earle Haley, and Malin Akerman is rumoured to be Laurie Juspeczyk. Is this the current actual list?
For me there's a gap between that cast list and the original list that Snyder was talking about when he first started. Sure there are great actors there and a couple of strong matches, but it isn't the big A-list cast that he was going for. That's probably not such a bad thing, would a huge A-list cast have overpowered the film?
