Alba joins Myers Ghuru cast
Not only has Jessica Alba signed for Mike Myers latest comedy The Love Guru, but Verne Troyer and Romany Malco have also joined up for his first original character on screen since Austin Powers arrived.
The Love Ghuru is Pitka, an American who was left at the gates of an Ashram (a place where religious or mystics lived in peace, close to nature) as a child and was raised by the mystics and gurus who lived there. Now he's grown up he returns to the U.S. to seek fame and fortune using his skills in the realm of self-help, a big seller in the U.S., specialising in solving relationship issues.
According to Yahoo News, the story will see him take on his biggest professional challenge yet, a star hockey player, played by Romany Malco, loses his wife to the star player on a rival team and this puts his whole career on a downward spiral. His coach, played by Verne Troyer, and the team owner, played by Jessica Alba, both panic and recruit the guru to solve his problems.
Sounds interesting, but there's a concern hanging over me that Mike Myers may have used all his comic genius on Austin Powers, and that perhaps the guru character isn't going to be such a hit with the film audience as he hopes. Still, I'm hoping that nagging doubt is wrong and is nothing more than a nagging doubt.
