Alien vs Predator: Requiem trailer just gore?
So what does the red band Alien vs. Predator: Requiem trailer show us? Well the very barest of stories and just about every scene of a creature of any description being mutilated in some way with the odd padding of a blood splatter scene.
Okay, there's a little more to it than that, but I do stress a little. There isn't that much more. We get the barest of plot reveals and understand that the place is "overrun", that there is going to be some form of missile dropped on the place to kill everything, and that Aliens are fighting Predators and humans. That's your plot so far.
However, plot totally aside, I have to say that visually Alien vs. Predator: Requiem really strong and the action / death scenes pretty slick, if somewhat bright. I say that as the original series for both films were darker and here everything is brighter and less subtle, we see the whole of the creatures standing there fighting full on, something that in the original films was built up to. This build up affects the audience and makes the impact of finally seeing them full screen even better, here though it looks like they'll be fighting full on throughout - does that detract from what these franchises and creatures once were?
I don't know, I just do know they can't seem to capture the original feel anymore. Still, from this trailer it looks like they are closer, just without the hint of subtlety.
See what you think, and have you got any ideas on why these films just aren't retaining their former glory? You can see the trailer over at UK IGN [QT:M:L:WMV:M:L:HD
