A-Team film is not dead!

TheATeam.jpgWhen I first started writing about films online The A-Team was the first story I ever wrote about, and despite it never actually getting any further, the Producer behind it has been speaking at Comic-Con and revealed that they are still going to make it.

I first wrote about the film beginning early production way back on the 15th of October 2004, and since then the project seems to have stalled. However at Comic-Con the Producer Marc Silvestri revealed that they've gone through several scripts and that they want this buddy film to work out just right.

He says that they've seen several scripts for The A-Team, and while they've come close, none of them have nailed it right for them and for the studio. He does say that the studio are ready to go with the film and really want to get it made, but that they are all looking for that script that captures the best elements of the film.

Reelzchannel who interviewed him, found through Scramble Network, asked him that same age old question about Mr T., and while he said that he wouldn't be returning for the B.A. role, he would love to get him back in a cameo.

A cameo would be good but they've got to concentrate on a new cast as he reveals that the story will be set in the modern day and it will be updated. So Vietnam is Iraq and the guys will be a bit younger with a hummer perchance.

I have to ask, as I did then. Who would you have as the cast if you could? Hannibal (George Peppard), Face (Dirk Benedict), B.A. (Mr T.) And Murdoch (Dwight Schultz)?

Oh, and remember that intro?...and with a Cylon too!

Now all I can think about is the A Team tune!

Mel Gibson for Hannibal
Matt Damon for Face
Jim Carrey for Murdoch

I've had a long time to think about this :)

Now I like that character listing.

I said it before on here an I'll say it again.....

Col. John "Hannibal" Smith - George Clooney / Philip Seymour Hoffman
Sgt. Bosco "Bad Attitude" Baracus - Samuel L. Jackson / Ving Rhames
Capt. H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdoch - Jim Carrey / Steve Buscemi
Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck - Brad Pitt

Oh Ving Rhames! What a perfect choice.

Now that you mention Buscemi I'm wondering if he might be a better choice than Carrey.

I think Buscemi would probably bring more "credibility" to the picture that Carrey. I'll be the first that Carrey is a solid actor, but Buscemi would be widely regarded as the more serious actor and might fit the ensemble better. He was perfect in Reservoir Dogs as part of the group - I don't know if Jim Carrey could do the same.

Although, it depends what direction the studio want to take the film. Be it a "semi-serious" yet enjoyable flick or an over-the-top "parody" like The Dukes of Hazzard.

Hopefully not the latter.

b.a. - michael clarke duncan
hannibal - matthew mconnaughey
murdoch - seth rogan
face - ryan reynolds

yes yes yes i am a comic book nerd. a bad one. so prepare yourself...for my question...

...since when did Marc Silvestri start producing? I'm assuming this is the same guy who started his career by writing the solo Wolverine comic, along with penciling it, before moving on to Xmen, and finally creating Witchblade, Cyberforce countless other series.

I have a bit of respect for the man. if he says he's got a vision of the Ateam working, i'm sure he'll give us something to chew on.

either way, I can't see anyone replacing hannibal or barracus to tell you the truth...but we'll see, i hope. : )

I always look back on the A-Team with a twinge of sadness for the great George Peppard and that his career ended with the TV Show. Not that I'm saying the show was bad, just that he'd acted in such great films.
