Dan in Real Life trailer online

JulietteBinoche.jpgDan in Real Life is another film from Steve Carrell, something which will have the majority of comedy lovers leaping up with excitement, not me though.

I struggle with Steve Carrell as he seems to play a similar character and similar humour time and time again, and it's not always for me. There's only so much I can take of the blatant, in your face comedy that often focuses on body activities.

Yet when I started watching the trailer for this film I was interested, because it seems as though Carrell is reigning in his performance. There are a couple of moments where he goes over the top and we see the usual falling off buildings for comedy moments, but for the most part it looks rather interesting.

The concept is pretty simple, Dan Burns is a columnist who offers advice through the daily newspaper to all, except his life isn't that much of a success. He's a widower looking after two daughters and his life is basically them.

Then he meets Marie, played surprisingly by Juliette Binoche, and falls for her. Except she's going out with his brother.

Expect misunderstandings and accidental meetings which result in plenty of hiding and awkward situations. Dane Cook, Dianne Wiest, John Mahoney and Emily Blunt also star in this film from Peter Hedges.

You can see the trailer over at Apple Trailers [QT:S:M:L:480p:720p:1080p].

I like the cast but the trailer was just mediocre for me. Made me giggle - no real laughs.
