Robert Downey Jr. is joining Jamie Foxx in The Soloist which will be directed by Joe Wright. As we already heard this is the story of a journalist who discovered the amazing violinist Nathaniel Ayers who was living as a homeless person at the time.

Ayers was something of a prodigy until it became clear that his schizophrenia was making it impossible for him to continue and so he stopped playing.

Robert Downey Jr. will play Steve Lopez, the journalist who wrote about him and developed a relationship with him. According to Variety this relationship changed both their lives.

I would presume that Jamie Foxx will be playing the musician with all the talent, and both sound like excellent dramatic roles, something I'd love to see Downey getting back to after Iron Man and Tropic Thunder.
